Haha well done Elizabeth :loveme:

So...........what's the next mythical bird to track down on the List?

For me.....Red Grouse! ;)

Changes at work mean I'm only getting one day a week off now so I'm cramming as much birding into that one day as I can LOL Just mulling over whether to do the coast tomorrow OR head inland to the Harthope Valley where I know there are Ravens, Peregrine, Ring Ouzels *lifer*, Red Grouse *lifer* and other goodies :D

Heck....who am I kidding.....INLAND it is!!!!!!!!! :-O I can squeeze trips to the coast (three miles away) in after work during the week! ;)

Best of luck, Gill, hope you get the Rouzels and the Grouse.

Not sure what's next on my target list - think I'll just rest on my laurels for a bit. ;)

Well, yes, I really, finally, at long last, can you believe it, who'd have thought it, will the world now end, did see one.

Josh texted me at work, I made a poor excuse and rushed off to Langtoft, the road was full of lorries cussedly driving at 35mph in every direction. I got there, adrenalin rushing through my veins, little heart pounding. Snuck a bit closer than I should have, set up the scope, found the willow where Josh says it hangs out... Not there!

Sinking feeling, but continued scanning the water and suddenly, there it was, swimming into the field of view, all white and fluffy and pointy-beaked and totally unlke anything else and definitely, absolutely, beyond any possible doubt a:

Has the world ended?

BTW Josh for President, everybody give this boy their lifesavings, girls rush out and kiss him, men prostrate yourself at his feet. I give you, my new favourite teenlister (sorry, Will)......Josh Jones! (And ta v much for letting me use the pic.)

Nah. That's not a smew.
That's a Pale Tufted Siberian Merganser that is.
Either that or a lump of polystyrene...

Lost, small black and white duck, fond of willow overhangs and answers to the name of 'Psstak'. If any birdspotters happen to have seen this little bird, last wearing Smew fancy dress, please contact us ASAP, his parents (one Goldeneye, one cross Muscovy) are missing him

Ha ha ha. On your garden list yet?

Lest I forget. On the way back from the Smew, enjoying the post-twitching glow, I stopped off at my patch to listen to the Willow Warblers (no Reed or Sedge yet) and also saw 2:

Absolutely. Viewing figures for twin peaks declined drammatically when they revealed who killed Laura Palmer, to give but one example.
