My name is Michael Barath, from Ohio, US. I'm trying to return to birding after a 30 year hiatus. I used to consider myself fairly good, but not any more. These past couple of months have been quite humbling. However, even when I'm out in the field somewhere and I am frustrated because I'm so rusty, just being in the woods, or in a swamp, or at the shore, is good for my soul. I'm very happy to have found this forum.

Hi Michael, welcome to BF. There is nothing like being out in nature, is there?
Thanks Sue. It's something I haven't allowed myself for many years. I spent Friday at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, OH, US, almost 11 hours. There were way too many people at the most popular locations, but at sunset I was alone, with a cool wind blowing off Lake Erie. I was absolutely alone, at least relative to other people. But all around me were the sounds of swans, coots, a sora, and some warblers. That did more to restore balance than just about anything else I can think of. Can you relate to that? I think you can.

Thank you, and it was. I'm curious - what does a Picture Picker do?

Hi Michael and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.
