Hi all!

My mother, grandmother and father were all very active birders, but maybe a bit different than how I approach the hobby today. None of them tracked which birds they saw or looked at e-bird to find out where the rare birds are and drove hours around the state to get a glimpse at the Ruff, Golden or Bald Eagle, Sora, American Redstart, Orioles, etc.

Regardless, I've been photographing birds for a long time, and recently bought some new equipment, and got one of my co-workers into it, who just retired and is a great birding friend who is up for early morning trips.

I've found, honestly, that I prefer birding now with just binoculars (as opposed to photographing) and would like to add a spotting scope. My main binoculars are a Nikon 10x50 setup my wife bought for my about 15 years ago, that really are great.

I am hoping to learn more about the hobby, enjoy some discussions and find a scope that would meet my needs in the classifieds at some point.

Thank you and chat soon,

Brett H

Hi Brett and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.
