Hi, My name is Paul Banks and I have taken up birdwatching/listening. I am a 78 year-old retiree who spent my working life developing photographic imaging systems. I still have a interest in photography and thought I might be able to use my knowledge in bird and nature photography. I live in Cheshire in the north of England. I am a member of a couple of local birwatching groups in Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

Hi Paul,

Hope you find the forum - my parents live in Cheshire and have a few local patches they go to.

Hi Julie, I am a member of Rostherne Mere near Tatton Park. The Boyd Hide is owned by Natural England and it is a very beautiful lakeside area. The trouble is that the hide is situated quite a distance from the lake (mere) and in Spring, Summer the trees bushes are on overgrown it is difficult to see the birds. I have been thinking of buying recording equipment to listen to who's in the vicinity, if I can't see them. Do you know if there are any reviews on recording equipment on this site? I'd also be interested in hearing about your parent's favourite haunts.
Thanks, Paul

Hi Delia, thanks for the welcome. Do you know if there are any reviews here on recording equipment suitable for birding? Additionally, how would I find it? Your help would be most welcome. Thanks, Paul
