I'm in my 50's living in South Florida for the past five years.

My son gave me a pair of Nature DX 8x42 by Celestron for Fathers Day this year (about a month ago). I mentioned that I'd like a pair of not too expensive bins for checking out what's in the bushes or across the yard, etc.

I realized that we have lots of really cool birds around here. Before I didn't really notice them besides the white and glossy ibis which are everywhere.

Now I go to the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge almost every week, and I carry my bins with me on walks around the neighborhood.

Sometimes I go out in the yard and stand under a shade tree and scan the sky for soaring birds and flyovers. I wish I had bought a lakeside home now.

My favorite bird is the anhinga. I saw them once or twice before but didn't know what they were. They like to fly over our house.

Welcome to the forums! Glad you're getting good use out of those binoculars so far, sounds like it's been a lovely gift :D

Anhingas are gorgeous birds, so it's unfortunate we don't get them over here in California. Would love to get to see one in person; I'm already so enamored with the photographs I've seen of them!
