I am 74 and I was raised by bird watchers. I had the pleasure of traveling over most of Texas, parts of Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona as a child with my birdwatcher grandmother and photographer grandfather. We went on many, many birding, camping trips. I was exposed to birds and all sorts of wildlife from an early age. I have retired from 48 years as a professional photographer. I got involved with a wildlife photo contest about 6 years ago. It has made me remember most of the things I learned about birds, and being an avid hunter has given me wildlife experience. That being said…taking wildlife photos is the hardest, most challenging thing I have ever done. It is more difficult than any hunting exposure I have ever had. I have however, brought everything I learned from hunting into the photography experience. Setting up to photograph a coyote or bobcat, at 40 feet or a ground squirrel at 10 feet takes everything I know. I am using a Canon 5D4 with a 100-400 zoom for almost everything and the contest requires no more than a 50% crop. So…you have to get close. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences in bird and wildlife photography.

Nice to have your reply. I want to contribute. What are the specifications for photo submission…size, ppi, color space, etc.
