Hi all
I recently found a pair of binoculars in my dad’s shed. I can’t seem to find any info on them. I’ve attached photos hoping someone can help me identify and how to look up their price etc.
Thank you
Tee

Hi and welcome.

These binoculars were pretty common in the 1960s and 1970s.

I am surprised to see uncoated eyepieces.

Are there any blue reflections from white light.

Probably Japanese, but my computer is playing up and I haven't seen all the photos.

Is there an oval sticker or marking on the front JB or JE?

Available in numerous names.

Triple tested means one of the testers is you.

Value about £20 if well aligned and no internal fungus or moisture.

A bit too high magnification terrestrially but good on stars if you have steady hands and point it upwards.

Regards,
B.

Thank you.
I can’t see a JB or JE. But in between the lenses I can see it has JAPAN, EV and 20004. If that gives you more detail? But what brand are they? I can’t find that anywhere.. Tee

The brand is probably a store or opticians brand.

If you bought maybe a hundred you could have any name you want.

The JE or JB numbers tells who made the binocular, but somebody might recognise the name.
But if no JE or JB marks possibly 1950s.
What about inside the front of the objectives.

If there are no lens coatings at all it could be 1950s.

B.

I looked inside the objectives and I see letters TE.

That may indicate the maker, say on a 1950s binocular.

The JB and JE marks have numbers following and one looks up the lists to find the maker.

It could be someone here knows who TE is, unfortunately I don't.

There were numerous small workshops making bodies and optics, which were assembled into binoculars.

Sort of doubt that- rubber eyecups is a 60-70's thing, no? Miniaturebinoculars.com has a reference to "silver" brand binoculars but little else- no pic of the logo of similar printing- there was a script "silver". Every time I see "triple tested" that was a Bushnell mark originally? Tested by, what, the factory, the retailer and the user?? Regards, Pat
