This is a big job for a small team of Editors, so we're asking if anyone could assist with it.

Following the release of the October 2022 Clements spreadsheet, there are a few changes to be made to the affected Opus pages. Basically the Genus name needs to be changed on the species articles: after Niels has done the required work on the Genus pages themselves, he will post into this thread asking if anyone can make the necessary adjustments to the species page.

  1. Change Genus name at the top of the page.
  2. Save the old Scientific name below it, enclosing within two single straight-apostrophes '' (formats text as italic)
  3. Taxonomy: if the species is Monotypic, move on to #5 otherwise...
  4. Change the first letter of the previous Genus name to the first letter of the new one in the subspecies list.
  5. References: Change the old Clements Reference to the current 2022 one: {{Ref-Clements6thOct22}}
  6. External Links: At the very bottom of the page is a row of Categories. Birds will be one, another should be the old Genus name. This should be changed to the new one
See this thread for full detailed instructions and description if you need them:

DONE

Species for which change is needed:

Old scientific name: Ciccaba virgata
New scientific name: Strix virgata
Remember that the first part of a scientific name is the genus, and this is therefore the part that needs changing.

Please respond to this thread if you are taking this on, to avoid several people trying all at once. A second reply when done would be great!

Not quite sure how the DONE message got added. But it is done now.

Think that's all on this thread for now.
