[QUOTE="claretjohn, post: 1625973, member: 79932"] The north Norfolk coast from Snettisham to Wells is and has always been a fantastic stretch of coastline for many different reasons. I agree with much of the above advice and can only bow to the birding knowledge. Holkham has a spectacular unspolit beach, dunes and pine backdrop, but yes is does cost about £3-4 to park, popular spot with dog owners. Be careful of the incoming tides. The sight of the geese is really something to behold, especially when they all take off together. Opposite the drive to the beach is the roadway to Holkham Hall, worth a visit if its raining. Holme is equally unspoilt with wide beaches and easy access to the dunes and hides. The Norfolk Wildlife Trust has a base here and will give excellent advice as to the days sightings. Titchwell reserve is good but is very popular.....the food at Titchwell Manor (almost opposite the reserve) is to die for. Expensive but if you like food, well worth it. Real ale as well !! The White Horse at Brancaster has a splendid view and another restaurant for a special meal. Thornham Lifeboat is a special favourite of ours with a good selection of reasonably priced food & real ale (Adnams or Wherry). Salthouse Dun Cow is also a recommendation for food. The Cley reserve is good with an excellent chance of seeing Marsh Harriers. Wherever you go along this stretch you will not be dissappointed, but take care and give yourself plenty of time as the roads (and some drivers) are typical of Norfolk. Slow down and enjoy!
