Help with new binos (2 Viewers)

Hi
Im looking for a new pair of binos , since my Bresser Condor's focus knob is failing and i want to upgrade .
What i look for the most is the abscense of the white glare that appears in certain light conditions, ease of use and sharpness . The rest of the characteristics are more secondary to me , as long as they improve at least a little my Condors.
My candidates so far are :
  • Celestron Trailseeker ED 10x42
  • Nikon monarch 7 10x42
  • Nikon M7 10x42
  • Vanguard Endeavor ed IV 10x42
  • Viking Peregrine ed 10x42
  • Meopta Meopro HD Plus 10x42

After reading a lot , i think the Celestron , Nikons and Meopta (the Nikon monarch 7 and the Meopta are second hand binos for less than 400€) instruments would be my first picks, but since im not a bino tech guy , i was looking for your opinion .

Thanks in advance

I would go with the Nikon M7 10x42, but if you could stretch to $600 I would rather have this Zeiss HD 10x42 on eBay. Too bad, but you just missed a new Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42 in the Bird Forum classifieds for $450!

Hello,

Is not the Monarch 7 10x42 just another nave for the Nikon M7 10x42?

Clear skies,
Arthur

The M7 is the updated version of the Monarch 7, which had a reputation for the rubbery, heavily textured armour working loose. Personally, I really liked the Monarch 7 in the hand, even if it felt a little 'low rent', it would be my personal choice between the two (hard to find a new copy these days though).

Thanks for the replies
The Monarch 7 that i found is seconda hand and comes from Japan , it seems like its in pretty good condition , but as Bentley03 says , im a bit worries about the armor being melted/loose , so i dont know.
The other option that i have is a pretty kuch new Meopta Meopro HD Plus 10x42 for less than 400€ and in my own country , what do you think about that?

Meopta all the way. Fantastic bino's which do not get the attention they deserve....until you pick one up, feel the build quality and the superb IQ.

Brand spanking new, €400, at:

Good luck!

Thank you Patr , but in that page i think there is some kind of error , because if im not mistaken , the photos are from a Meopta Optika , not a Meopro HD plus.

I think you are right! The description is different! Might be worth an email to them.

M7 semble pire que Monarch 7 si je crois aux commentaires des utilisateurs.
J'ai un Monarch 7 et je l'adore mais je n'ai pas assez d'expérience avec d'autres modèles.
Si vous pouvez les essayer, le meopta 2nd hand est certainement un bon choix even if 400€ is maybe a little too high

I also recently found a Nikon monarch 7 10x42 for 380€ with some use marks , but the thing is that the owner doesnt have papers to reclaim warranty, if it was the case . In a situation like that , is it worth buying some instrument without those papers?

Knowing that the M7 10x42 can be found for 500€, I'd say that 380 for Monarch 7 without guarantee is to expensive

Now that im thinking about it , what kind of document is needed to be able to use the warranty on a pair of second hand binos? Only the purchase receipt? Or is there some other way?

Thanks to everyone for the previous answers

Every manufacturer has terms and conditions regarding warranty transfer and geographic/time limitations.

Some will allow you to transfer warranty if you have the original receipt, and some strictly refuse to allow such a transfer, ie original purchaser only.

Once you have decided on the make and model you should check the manufacturers warranty conditions for your country and decide whether it is possible to transfer......... or simply walk away.

In the UK reputable dealers offer a warranty on used items, WEX for example offer 12 months. I purchased a pair of mail order return Leica Trinovids yesterday from them but had emailed Leica UK to check if they could be registered by me and the 10 year warranty transferred.

Yes was the answer, we just need the serial number. Which is exactly the same with Swarovski.

Private sales are a complete minefield.

Caveat emptor!

Good luck.

Well , ive discarted those second hand Nikon Monarch 7 for now because they dont have the papers to apply for the warranty .
Yesterday i was looking at the Meopta Meopro HD Plus , but those binos are not registered in the Meopta page for the 10 year warranty , so they only have left 1 year or so left . For 340€ , should i buy them or should i look for other instruments that do have more years of warranty?

Well , at the end i think im going with a new pair of GPO Passion ED 10x42 , because all the Nikon M7 10x42 that i found at a good price are from Japan , and im worried that it may be a problem if i have to claim warranty for some reason.
Furthermore , the Nikon warranty in Spain seems to be not that good (in case i decided to buy it in my country) , and also ive read some reviews both on the Nikon and the GPO , and my undesrtanding is that they are very similiar in optical performance , so i think buying one from a German based company with apparently a very fast warranty service is the better choice.

Thanks to everyone for the help .

Best regards
