Hi all (1 Viewer)

I’ve just been looking into Hummingbirds and found this site which had some useful tips. I know the UK well but USA not so much. I’m planning a trip to Arizona to see the birds (especially Hummingbirds) sometime this year if all goes to plan. I’m a bit worried about the temperatures but as Hummers are best seen in August/Sept how do you cope? Is it different in the hills? Do you just watch in the early mornings etc? Any tips gratefully recieved, thanks all.

Hi Julie and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I suggest you ask in the Information Wanted forum, where you post will likely receive more views. I don't know if it's any different in Arizona to where I went in Australia... the desert/outback areas, although very hot +30C there was little to no humidity, so I managed the heat very well. Though we did seek shade if sitting around.

It was different in Perth though, the humidity there was horrendous on my last day. We had to give up birding!!

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Hi again, depending on what part of Arizona you are visiting. Early August you will be during the wetter season, a little cooler but more muggy.
