Born in Horncastle Lincs, did 8 years in the RAF then came to NZ via Canada. I was always interested in photography but only concentrated on birds recently, mainly because my old bones, 95 years of age restrict my travel. I used to use Minolta film cameras, then upgraded to a Panasonic FZ50. As time went on I sold it and bought a Panasonic G2 with a 45 200 lens that I now use on a tripod, shooting through the open window of my lounge, The birds that visit my feeding area are sparrows, dozens, Spotted Doves12 of them, Blackbirds, adults end fledglings, An occasional visit from a Thrush is a bonus. Greenfinches and native Wax eyes are rarely seen. hoping to post some pictures later.

Hi, Jon. Welcome to the forum on behalf of the staff and moderators. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. Hopefully you will post some of your pictures in our Gallery. We allow three there every 24 hours.

Hi Jon and a warm welcome from me too. I'm so looking forward to seeing some of your pictures - do you see Tui where you are? I've quite fallen in love with them!!!

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.
