ZEISS. Discover the fascinating world of birds, and win a birding trip to Columbia

Casual Birder
Just dropping in a note to say hello from Titusville, FL. Home to Scrub Jays and many other fascinating birds. I would say I am a casual birder and do not get to actively bird as much as I would like due to my schedule.

I have only really been paying attention to birds for the last few years or so. I used to watch a show on YouTube called safariLive and they would encourage us to keep bird lists each year, and even though they don't count towards actual life goals, it was fun to see how many we could get in a year and it got even more exciting when a bird was new. So, I transferred that over to my real life and at the time I lived outside of Phoenix and turned my desert garden into a tiny oasis where I could sit and enjoy the birds as they grew confident in my birdbaths and feeders. I even spotted a white dove once that must have escaped a nearby coop. That was very interesting as the other doves would chase it away.

Since then I have moved to Florida where I now reside in Titusville just across the lagoon from NASA, and Cape Canaveral National Sea Shore. I wish I wasn't so timid about going out and exploring, but I am so I tend to miss opportunities.

One of my favorite places to go is the Blackpoint Wildlife Drive in the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. Many of the migrating waterfowl end up in that area from both South America and the upper parts of North America. There you can see Rosette Spoonbills next to Tricolored Herons and Mersengers.

I am part of another form called Safaritalk where I try to participate each year in their Big Year, but fail. I'll try to share my photos here as well.

I do not own binoculars as I use my Nikon 3500 and it's 30-700mm lens as a scope.

I apologize for the rambling as it is early and I have had little sleep.
