I think it is female Indian Pond Heron. Having never seen one in nature, I would wait for a further opinions

EDIT: Looking at my photos I see I photographed one in Sri Lanka

Agree looks like non-breeding Indian pond heron. I'm not sure we can say it's female though (?)
You are right, of course. I got a bit confused: Firstly not remembering I had seen them in Sri Lanka (2018) and then on the female/non-breeding bit.
