House Finch or Purple Finch? (1 Viewer)

I photographed this fella in October in NYC. My first thought was House Finch until I saw a picture of a Purple Finch, and now I'm not too sure. Can anyone ID it? Thanks in advance.

Purple Finch. No striping on the belly or sides.

[The Bird Nuts]

Note the extensive raspberry color (on the cheeks and shoulders), relatively straight culmen, and peaked head shape. There actually IS brown streaking on the sides, but that doesn't rule out Purple Finch.
