House wrens (1 Viewer)

Hello, I have a birdhouse where I have been observing house wrens feeding their babies several times a day. It’s been very hot here the last couple of weeks, and as of yesterday, there are no active fledgelings observed in the nest. However, it seems as though the parents keep returning to the nest and going in and out. it almost seems as though they are starting to nest again as they are taking branches and string into the nest. Is it possible the babies died in the heat and are still in the box, why would the parents be returning to the nest so quickly and adding things to the nest?

Hi, welcome to the forum on behalf of the staff and moderators. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group.

Hi Raelynn and a warm welcome from me too.

Sorry I can't help with this issue. However, I wonder if it might be an idea to consider moving the birdhouse next year to a spot that provides shade for at least part of the day.

Or maybe it's possible to provide some shade in the current position. You have some months to think about it as it's not wise to do so while it is being used.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing about the birds you see around you.
