Okay i have got dragged into this by reading all the updates. I am currently on 134 species, but have a week in Norfolk from Saturday (hope that the sparrow holds on) so should be well over 150 by the end of that. I will update you when i return.

No year ticks yet (Please stay there Sparrow), but with 320 (BOU) they dont come that easily these days.

Am i ahead of you Penny? By the way thanks for the traffic tip on the Norfolk local page, i shall be avoiding the A149 by driving via Docking on Saturday, might even stop at Flitcham to see if there are any Tree Sparrows about.

Sue, thank you for the Lesser Spot advice at Holkham, i shall be checking it out (dont see the little devils every year)

Now having decided to do this i noticed the BUBO listing, so have put my year list on there. I have to say it is very good and as mentioned on this thread before you can see what birds you really should have seen by now. This is done by the software comparing your year list to all others.

Anyway i am woffling on here, my point is that during that comparison i discovered that one person has seen a Whinchat this year already and another a short-toed treecreeper!!!!

Ah well i think my bins need cleaning, not seeing any of those here - lol

from a little jaunt into our blue remembered hills... for an all red bird day

89. Red Grouse
90. Common Crossbill (roughly 8 birds, half of which where glorious males in the sunlight!)
91. Red Kite

very happy with my total, which although it is quite low, i've yet to visit the coast.

An excellent day today calling into Upton Warren Moors first then onto the Forest of Dean before calling into Grimley New Workings on the way back.

153. Cetti's Warbler
154. Mealy Redpoll
155. Mandarin Duck
156. Goshawk
157. Raven
158. Crossbill
159. Black Redstart

I called into Upton on the way home but the car park was rammed full and cars also spilt out onto the main A38 so I decided to pack in early and come home. Shame, as I was hoping to find a Jack Snipe.

I saw a few "year birds" while my wife and I were visiting up near Chicago, Illinois. However, I can not count them on my "Missouri Year List" since they were seen in another state.

American Black Duck, Herring Gull, Fox Sparrow, Great Blue Heron and Rough-legged Hawk.

132

The GBBC weekend didn't produce anything new but I moved to 132 yesterday, when two Eurasian Collared Doves visited our yard. It's amazing that it has taken until now to see them, given that they are resident in our housing subdivision.

Got a new bird for the year on my way to work this morning. Now up to 99.

99. Cedar Waxwing

A small flock was feeding on berries in a small tree at the side of the road.
