65 Swallow
66 Swift
67 House Martin
68 Sand Martin
69 Purple Swamp Hen
70 Waxbill (lifer)
71 Serin
72 Azure Winged Magpie
73 Cattle Egret
74 White Stork
75 Black Winged Stilt
76 Golden Plover
77 Greater Flamingo
78 Spoonbill
79 Sardinian Warbler
80 Little Grebe
81 Green Woodpecker
82 Hoopoe
I still have more to list once I have sorted the notes and photos and will have to post some for I.D, especially Waders and Warblers.
It was a lovely wek in spite of the weather and seeing the Swallows and Martins was a reminder that Spring is not too far away.

The Big Freeze is over (at least temporarily), the ponds are becoming free of ice, and the snow is melting. The warmer weather is bringing in new birds, of which I saw three today, so I'm now up to 98.

96. Lesser Scaup
97. Killdeer
98. Franklin's Gull

I am up to 292, latest being Yellow-billed Cacique and Red-crowned Ant-Tanager, and best probably Southern Lapwing and Yellow-billed Cotinga.
Almost all are from trips to Carara National Park and vicinity- a very birdy place. I am guiding there again this weekend but would be surprised to get something new. Hopefully get up into cloud forest sometime soon to boost the year list.

I'm very happy with my year list. I have seen 117 species so far, with the highlights being Iceland Gull, Bean Goose, Smew, Slavonian Grebe, Short-eared Owl, Water Pipit, Waxwing, Merlin, Brambling, White-tailed Eagle, Twite, Snow Bunting and Scaup. However, I don't think there will be a huge rise now until the spring comes, as there isn't that much present in the area that I'd have a good chance of seeing that I haven't seen.

We have been in the "deep freeze" for several weeks (I was not feeling too well either) so my bird list was somewhat "on hold" during this time. However, the temperature moderated a little this morning and the sun was shining so I went to the oxbow lakes just south of Saint Joseph for a little birding.

I added five "First of Year" (FOY) birds to this year's Missouri List:

80. Cooper's Hawk
81. Lesser Scaup
82. American Wigeon
83. Ross's Goose
84. Hermit Thrush

VERY grey, wet day and the sea at Boulmer was very high - absolutely gorgeous walking day! :t: The grey sky made seabirds stick out a lot more too - their white plumage was whiter thanm white today!

79: Gannet ~ good movements flying north out to sea.

I had a terribly muddy morning at Highnam Woods (near Gloucester), and got very fed up with all of it... but was rewarded with both Willow Tit and Marsh Tit. Can't complain!
