After what seems like months without doing any birding (locally), I was finally able to get out yesterday on the bicycle. Got as far as the nearest river, which is starting to show some signs of life, to wit:

Didn't look for new birds weekend; instead spent time photographing a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks that started nesting near our house. (Photos on my blog.)

Miserably wet day here yesterday but heard someone had seen some interesting birds at a local park, so I rushed over there. I added:

I am still a little surprised that I have not seen the Blue-winged Teal yet this year here in northwest Missouri. I usually see one by now!
