That makes three (3) for October.
Some people here have seen Nelson's lately too. Our group saw some new sparrows to me, but I did not catch them all. One was new for me. I think it was White Crowned, juvenile. Have done OK with 04 warblers, I had more than in 03 or 02.

Need to do some updating. Over the last couple of weeks:

193. Woodcock
194. Waxwing
195. Hume's Warbler (a lifer, on second attempt)
196. Last but not least American Golden Plover

my aim this year was to make it to 250 for the first time... so I'm well happy, hopefully will add a few more yet.

Recent Highlights include managing to un-block Great Grey Shrike!!!(finally!) ....it flew into close view while watching the unfortunate Short Lived Lark.
Also Pallas's, Barred & Yellow Browed Warblers, Pied Wheatear.

This morning,
Swallow, Sandwich Tern, Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Pallas's, alongwith Ring Ousels, Redwings, Twite & Little Owl. (missed Peregrines & YBWarbler though)
This afternoon,
8 Red Kites.

A weekend visit to La Cueva del Guacharos gave me five new year/ life birds. OK, only the Guacharo (Oilbird) was seen at the caves, the others enroute.

437. Wattled Jacana

and 195 for my life list............only five more to go to reach the other target I had for this year.

nothing new i don't think but a great morning at Waxham

loads of starlings coming in off constantly
Redwings and Fieldfares ditto
a few Bramblings arriving
Brents arriving
Pink-feet building up
a few Velvet Scoters on the sea

....still waiting for the suprise....it'll come soon!

Birding around Saint Joseph, Missouri, USA

I had a good sparrow day (eleven species of native sparrows) plus about 50 Dark-eyed Juncos! The juncos are back from the north country in force.

266 Common Loon (6 for October) I had a yodeling, flyover at Lake Contrary, Saint Joseph, so did not have to travel to Smithville Lake to see one!

Also had Brown Creeper (1) and Pine Siskins (2) today.
