Good stuff :t:

you do realise though, that in making your first list, you've probably started out on the slippery slope to full-on "list addiction" ;)

Never mind, we'll be here for you in our capacity as "listers anonymous" :D

Hi Timmy,

141 Wow! That is impressive! You may pass your father before long if you keep at it. :t:

I have been interested in nature (emphasis on birds) since my boyhood (quite a long time ago!), but I did not record the birds I was seeing then. I only started writing down what I was seeing about 17 years ago. It would be interesting to me if I could compare birds/numbers of birds from that earlier time with those I am seeing now. Some of the "old time birders" tell me that there used to be many more birds when they started birding than there are now. I suppose that is true, but we still have quite a few. We just need to protect them and their habitats.

Good Birding!

An excellent first trip out on my shiney new Dawes Galaxy ( :king: ) in Broadland / East Norfolk this afternoon.

Incidentally if anyone's after a new bike for a bit of bike-birding, there are some really good deals about on last years (2004) stock at the minute. Like mine !

47 miles + 33 sp. inc some really good stuff

Loads of Redwings on Norton marshes, lots of lapwings around, couple of Jays, GS Woody, tits / finches, Goldcrest etc, 2 Marsh Harriers .... 300+ Pinkfeet Geese (plus various size skeins in flight, at various distances) in stubble field E of B1152 at Clippesby.

And ....

162. Siskin

Hi Karl

you know of a good dealer around East Norfolk way?

I'm really keen to get biking it to cover more ground around my favourite patches

47 miles? Blimey, i thought i was healthy!

192. Jack Snipe (bird 201 on my uk life list)

may even make 200 at this rate, then again maybe not.....

Well, it's Hallowe'en-- just time to scare up a final bird for October to add to your yearlist, and post your monthly total here, if you haven't done so already. I'll be back to collect them tomorrow afternoon or so and put them onto our Yearlist thread.

Going to Spain on Thursday so hoping to reach the 300 for the year if I can.

Mountain Chickadee
Since I posted last...

For Washington (ABA in parenthesis)...
205. Bonaparte's Gull (Winthrop, Okanogan County)
206. Swamp Sparrow ( " , " , Lifer!, ABA #365)
And on an outing today...
207. Green-winged Teal
208. Cackling Goose (Lifer!, ABA #366)
209. Surf Scoter (Rarity, ABA #367)

So that's 209 (O 7) for Washington, and 367 (O 5) for the ABA area.

I'll pm you, Charles, about why my numbers don't match up.

Cheers,
Michael

Sorry, folks, my machine is down, and I am relegated to this Japanese one with all of the inscrutable menus and keys. Hence, no update to the Yearlists yet. I have got your PMs, and when I get my own computer running again, I`ll get the job done. Meanwhile, just keep birding-- November must hold a few birds yet for some of us.
