How's your 2004 year list going? (1 Viewer)

Charles, I am still hoping for some good loons (divers), grebes and scoters before the year is out! I doubt if I will make 300 for Missouri, but that is a "mark" that few birders make. I think that you can count "on one hand" the total number of people that have attained that status! A friend of mine is hovering around the 300 mark for this year. I believe that she is going to reach (and perhaps surpass) that mark as she still has some "possibles" in the next two months.

Good Birding to All.

Charles's Sig said:
"... al with-oute, the mewe is peynted grene, In which were peynted alle thise false foules, As beth thise tidifs, tercelets, and oules,... and pyes...."
BTW, Charles, how close am I to the meaning of the quote in your sig?

something like: "...everything outside, the lawn is painted green, in which all these "false?" birds were painted, as "both?" these "tits?", falcons and owls...and magpies…."

Oh well, it has been a long time since I have read any Chaucer!

Larry, if I could find the passage again, I'd try an exegesis, but I can't remember where it is-- I just finished all of the Canterbury Tales, and Troilus and Criseyde as well. I think it's describing a tapestry, hence 'false'.

Got the sitting duck at Kenfig . . .

(1)270 - Redhead

. . . the hybrid with the red chest had me flummoxed for a while. Serves me right for not taking my field guide!

254 - puffin - I'm well pleased with this as it's my first Norfolk record... the number I've missed is amazing, but got there in the end... takes me to 240 in Norfolk this year

A fair hike up Brown Clee was very rewarding with my first tick for November ....

195 - Great Grey Shrike .

Stunning bird and I got great views , I think the utter isolation as to where I was added to the whole atmosphere of seeing this bird . Great tick !!
