Say this duck at Colonel Samuel Smith Park Ontario in May. Is this a hybrid mallard?
Thanks
Chris

For me its one for the experts, but I see:
  • the fine vermiculation pattern on the flanks of a Pintail or a Gadwall
  • a slightly longer bill and a drawn out head
  • what appears to be elongated central tail-feathers, but with a strange look: is this real?
My guess would be a Mallard x Pintail but I hope for Jörn and others to comment!

For reference: Mallard x Northern Pintail

and Gadwall x Mallard

My uneducated first impression was that it looked more like the former (lack of tan color on head, mostly), but there are a number of details that dont' quite fit: bill color, missing white border on neck, only marginally elongated tail. Eager to see what Jorn has to say.
