I had a feeder I loved, now I can only find a feeder I hate! (1 Viewer)

My original feeder was large, probably held 10 pounds of seed in its hopper, and you could lift the entire lid to fill it, that was so easy. I had it for decades but I think ultraviolet radiation from the sun caused the clear plastic of it to disintegrate over time. And I haven't been able to find a replacement for it. I also couldn't find any part numbers or brand-name on it.

That new one I did get (autobon society brand) holds about the same amount of seed, but has a small 2 inch hole at the top center of it that I had to make a seed funnel to load birdseed in it, what a pain! The lid of my old one locked down with a quarter turn of a large nut on it, this new one doesn't lock down at all and that plastic is too slippery to tape it down, and the squirrels in my area pop that lid off easily and enter the bird feeder inside from the top.

Can anyone help me with recommendations of where I can get a feeder like my old one, but not like this new one (which I hate)?

I'm trying to attach a picture of my old feeder

I took some crappy pics a while back out my bedroom window, the lighting and aspect ratio are bad, but I'm trying to replace the one hanging out behind the left window pane. Has anyone seen where I can purchase one like this? I've seen pictures on the Internet of this feeder in different places, but I haven't seen anywhere that I can buy it at.

I don't hate squirrels!

Not that I have anything against squirrels, I don't mind when they eat off of my feeders I just don't want them flipping open the top where I add the birdseed, and going inside and eating it from there and crapping and doing other stuff on top of my birdseed. I have that problem with my new bird feeder, but I've never had that problem with my old feeder.

I have tried both Lowe's and Home Depot when I was looking online for suggestions, but I haven't actually been to their stores. Once I found this current one I have, I didn't realize it would have these major problems so I quit looking. But I haven't seen any kind they have that's similar to my old one I liked, at least not on line.

I'm surprised they just quit making my old one that I liked, but I can't find it anywhere. This is one I may get at Lowe's to replace my current new one. I had problems putting the picture of it in here, so I'll just give Lowe's description here.

I used to have that problem with raccoons

Well it is the raccoons that are driving me nuts.

Back when I had a hopper feeder mounted on a pole in my backyard, I had raccoons somehow climbing the surrounding trees and they'd clean out my bird feeder in a couple days or so.

Since then I've mounted feeders on the overhang of my second story roof and I've never had a raccoon problem since. But it's no problem for the squirrels to get to the feeder! As I mentioned before I don't have a problem with them eating my birdseed it's just them climbing inside my bird feeder and doing who knows what on top of my birdseed in that feeder that I have a problem with!
