The Savannah pictures are definately looking good to me. After the mention of the Savannah I did a little more research. I found out that where I found this young bird was exactly where you would expect to find it. I planted 4,000 tree seedlings 2 years ago on 5 of 10.3 acres. The other 5.3 was planted with 2,000 trees 8 years ago. I have a total of 34 species of shrubs and trees I planted. Anyway, on my newer tree land I planted a clover/grass ground cover which I will mow until the trees are little more mature. The grass is taller in the rows where the actual trees are. I read that they build their nests on the ground under taller grass so I decided to go look for the nest. That was like finding a needle in a hay stack. I didn't find the nest yet, but I did hear a bird chirping near by giving a warning type chirp. I went back to the house and got my binoculars and walked toward the sound and guess what, I saw a Savannah Sparrow adult bird. It was chirping at me to warn me or the young birds of my presence I guess. I'm pretty sure the mystery is solved! It is a Savannah Sparrow. It still would of been a mystery without all your help. I will keep my eye out next time I mow. I'm sure glad I didn't run over it. I attached a picture of what my tree rows look like. Thanks for all your help!!!! Tom
