I need to see a hoopoe in Italy (1 Viewer)

Hello, my family is making a trip to Italy in June/July. A few days each in Milan, Venice, Florence, Sorrento, and Rome. What would be my best bet for seeing a hoopoe? It doesn't have to be up-close nor photogenic (though both would be nice). I just need to see it! My family are not birders so hopefully without too much searching where they will get impatient.

Hi flsusan and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I think you'll find that Hoopoes are fairly common in Italy and can be seen in gardens etc. But no doubt someone will be along soon to confirm that.

hi there. Hoopoe in widespead in Italy and summer is very good to see them. Keep your ears ready to detect the distinctive call. Of course, the best is to look in urban parks and countryside.
