Iberian Lynx; Request for Info (1 Viewer)

Finally sorted all this for Jan 2025. Just out of interest on the bird front any chances of Bonelli's Eagle in this area?

I don't know any in the area, but there are commercial hides in Extremadura and the Valencia area. You'd have to google a bit to see through the (sometimes quite pricey) offers of photography tour companies to find the owner of the hide who can obviously arrange a better quote.
The better areas are North of Malaga, North of Caceres (Monfague) and the hills North of Cordoba. There aren't that many sightings close to Andujar / in the Lynx area.

With regards to accomodation, La Caracola Casa Rural is another very nice option.
With regards to tours, I guess naturetrek is the go-to company for Brits, but there are a zillion companies offering tours to the region, for Lynx. Most go in December / Januari when the cats are looking for a partner.

Thanks Temmie; we are doing it ourselves and all sorted now on accommodation etc. Was just interested in case Bonelli's was doable in same area; will have to save that for another trip.

Starting to gather information on how to approach the days for this. We are staying at Villa Matilde; is there a need to be out and looking for Lynx early or can we afford time for breakfast first!

We always took in breakfast and still managed good sightings. In Coto Donna they are mostly active early or late but that is a busier place. I suspect that may also be the case here but less so. We had sightings throughout the day.

When we were there, in April 2010, early and late appeared to be the worst time, but it may vary with time of year.

All - finally heading off for this trip next week. Appreciate that getting info from those on the ground while we are there is key but is there anywhere online that shows/discusses recent sightings? I'm sure all this might be obvious once we get there and see where people are staking out but just trying to have as much info ahead of time as possible. thanks all.

Hi Allen,

PFA map grabs as discussed.

Cheers

John
