Great news! I hope many Bird Clubs and other Wildlife organisations will be doing similiar. Well done NTBC and DBC and all who help with the distribution of the seed!:t: I have read that sprats have been strewn on the ice at the Moors Pools, Upton Warren and no doubt plenty of extra food for the Woodland birds! The news spurred me on today so armed with a bucket of mixed seed, crumbled fatballs and suet pellets I made my way to 2 local Churches. The second Church being the one adjacent to a Hospice where I have had many a walk around and enjoyed the pleasure of seeing LTT's, B & G Tits, Wren, Robin etc etc! The afternoon is a cold one so I hope the birds find the food before roosting. The only bird I saw was a Woodpigeon a couple of times but I heard a Wren, hope the Wren was watching me place the food on the gravestones as that was the only suitable place as everywhere is still white over. The sky is looking leaden again, snow is forecast for later today, a thaw hasn't started here yet. Pavements and side roads are still white with snow/slush. When the weather warms and the snow has all but gone I hope to take some food at the weekend to fields where a large flock of Yellowhammers and Finches gave a lot of pleasure seeing them a couple of weeks ago. I am now sitting here at my PC with a mug of warming hot chocolate in a centrally heated house thawing out. If possible take a little food beyond your garden, the birds need it desperately.
