Every morning and evening, I hear these birds singing to each other, but in the distance, so I can't see them. It sounds like dee-dee-dee, but not like a chickadee. It most resembles the "oh dear me" of a Golden-Crowned Sparrow, and indeed, there are lots of those around, but it's a bit quicker paced, and there is no descending. All the notes sound the same. Every audio file I've found of a golden crown is definitely slow and descending, and this isn't. Any ideas? Oh, I got some audio! Attached. Thanks!

Welcome to Birdforum! I am sure that you will find lots to interest you here and I hope that you enjoy your visits.

Hopefully someone will be able to help you.

It's definitely a zonotrichia sparrow (White-throated, White-crowned or Golden-crowned). Sounds the most like the end of a White-throated song to me.

Awesome, thanks! I have Golden and White Crowneds here almost every day, but I've never seen a White-throated. Glad to have confirmation that at least I'm on the right track.

I didn't even know this forum existed until this morning, but I was pulling my hair out trying to confirm this bird! Looking forward to seeing what else is here!
