ID Handbook of European Birds - thoughts, comments thread (14 Viewers)

It all seems very strange to me regarding Birdguides and how they have handled this from the very start...I've ordered books from them before and never experienced issues like this, as their service has always been spot on.

It does make you wonder if a third party is involved and is struggling to cope with the books issues and the returns.

I'm the OP of this thread I and I got mine from Birdguides on August 3rd, and they are perfect, as long as you don't consider the bluish fringe on the Tatler etc a fault (I don't). I feel sorry for all those struggling to get copies, and for those who received copies with printing faults such as the binding/page cutting errors, but I can assure you all that the books are definitely worth the wait!

I wonder why the delay in others people's copies, I ordered on August 7th and presumed I had to wait until after the official release date of August 20th, which looks to be the case.

Agreed...I can live with the blue tint but, what I can't live with is the incorrectly folded pages, it does make you wonder how they passed quality control.

Still waiting and still no notification from DPD, without a doubt the worst service I've ever had from Birdguides.

Thought I'd start a thread to keep all these together as I hope/expect people will have a lot to say about it. I haven't got anything specific to say yet except that after a quick flick through I think it's pretty fantastic! I'll have a chance to go through it properly next week.
2nd September Amazon emailed me to say the Kindle PreOrder I made on Saturday is Cancelled!

There's hope for me yet then.
Those people getting delivery from Birdguides via DPD - did you get any prior contact from DPD about delivery date/time?

Mine was delivered by a chappie in a plain white van and not the usual DPD livery.

Sticker on the packaging says DPD so probably a freelance driver.

I didn't receive the usual DPD notifications.

Still waiting for mine from BG, or even some news as to what is not going on. The half-promised email never materialised from my phone call and I just received the same pathetic fob-off to my second phone call just now.

I would much prefer a watermarked pdf or whatever, too. Getting a Princeton app for one book is not a good idea. I still remember the BF thread about Collins guide 3 edition on an app, and the saga how to make the Black Swan appear in your app.
I am having significant problems with the Princeton ereader app, error messages which their tech support people have been unable to solve for a tablet version, and total refusal to show the book on two phones I have tried.
