Cyclops

1 eyed tree hugging nature nut!
Recent birds include a woodcock near Himley Hall, which didn't fly far enough to become a Baggeridge tick unfortunately. Also a barn owl near Kinver, in flight during the day sop pleased with that, and the first of the year.

Still seeing raven in the Kinver area including a brief aerobatic peformance from one bird.

Himley Hall, haven't been in that neck of the woods for ages. And a Raven at Kinver, that sounds quite unusual!

Well that was nice ... an hour or so at Baggeridge this aftrenoon turned out well.Round Bag Pol and Woods Farm are followed by the Wetlands to the Concrete Road and back to the van.

Redwings, Thrush. On the pool were Canada Geese, Mallards, Coot, Moorhens.Wetlands turned up Green Woodpecker, Crows, Magpies, abudence of Blue and Great Tits, Robins, and a Wren. Two Jays. Overhead two Common Buzzard, Single Raven and some Gull but goodnes nows what they were. So all failrly normal and amazing ... then whoop bottom of concrete road up swoops the Perigrine .. got in view in the binnoculars as he began to pull back his wings and drop like a stone behind the ridge... I hope he got his snack...

As I was driving home on that bend lending to Sedgley where you can turn right onto the Straits... I saw him again coming from the left to the right .. and he was really moving ... I nearly crashed ... :-O getting used to that though.

So Baggeridge count up to 37, year count to 59 ... slowly slowly;)

Lovely Kestral viewed at the topscope at Baggeridge today... and a super Green Woodpecker ground feeding by the bridge at Bag Pool ...

Flock of mixed Green and Goldfinches by Woods Farm... this spot is really growing on me. Tawny was showing well in Whites Wood think he was defending his territory from the Jackdaws.

This morning out & about on my bike I had the good fortune to watch 2 Brown Hare grazing & chasing each other in a field in South Staffs. They were only 100 metres away so had great views with binos. Watched for about 20 mins before they seemed to get spooked by a distant barking dog and shot off.
Also saw a single Raven soaring near Long Common.

Big Baggeridge Grin o:)Today I got two new ones for this year and Baggeridge Stock Dove and Lesser Spotted WoodpeckerSpotted 30 types altogether, many that I would expect to see including a Song Thrush, several Red Wings still here. Wrens and Robins looking like they were setting up home. Looks like the Jackdaws could be leaving the Tawny alone this year. Also saw Green Woodpecker and a Greater Spotted Woodpecker

I am pleased with the number of sightings today as most of them were not in places where I would almost be guarenteed to see them. :t:
Baggeridge count is 40
Year count is 68

Did you have any luck John?

There were 4 or maybe 5 Sand Martin over Himley Lake this afternoon.

After 4 years birding this is the first year that I have kept a year list, and as it started so well I had hoped to get my year list to 100 before adding any spring migrants, but no.
I got to 94 before the Sand Martin. Nice to see them, though.
