Hetton Lyons provided my first Willow Warbler of the year (and I saw many more today at Fairburn Ings). The rest of Saturday demonstrated how good Sunderland and its beaches can look on a sunny day and how good the Roker Pie Shop is but the sighting of the day was the Lesser Red-fronted Di Canio lecking at the Stadium of Light with 40,000 happy Mackems (I know that's an oxymoron).

Walking home at lunchtime, a single Crane flying high south west over Newcastle road towards the stadium of light. Seems like there's been several seen in the area the last day or two.

A pair of Little Ringed Plovers dropped into join a Ringed Plover and 2 Redshanks on the flash on Moor lane this afternoon.
Could only find 5 Yellow Wagtails (1 Blue Headed) this afternoon but they were quite flighty.

Also a shot for the Sunderland fans that I couldnt resist.

A good morning around Acad Pools/Mere Knolls Cem area. Plenty of Warblers around including Blackcaps,Grasshopper Warbler and 2 Lesser Whitethroats. Sedge and Reed Warbler present but proving difficult to see in the windy conditions.
A Common Sandpiper was on the main pond and a flushed Jack Snipe was a nice suprise.

Visited Washington Wildfowl and Wetland Trust on Monday. Good to see the common terns back in numbers and the avocets breeding. A suprise was that an Oystercatcher has chosen to lay her eggs in the stones/pebbles of the old flamingo enclosure. She took a break from incubating and revealed three eggs ! Very close to the public walkway too.

11 Eider on the north side of the pier, several kittiwakes hanging around and a Common Tern over. A bloke at the end was kind enough to shout me over as he'd spotted this Porpoise/Dolphin lingering just off the pier end.

looks like a bottle nosed dolphin or possibly white beak to me mate good sighting what ever but the former is more likely as they often move singly and harbour often has them visit
