Best of the Best Actually, both the Zeiss VHT and Swaro EL 10x42's weigh about 150g less than the EL 10x50's (998g)! The little extra heft of the 10x50's helps me stabilize the sight picture better than any other 10x power I've tried...less shake. They are about the same length, cost are similar, but the EL 10x50 Optics are Very Impressive, Very Immersive...All as if "You are There in 3D"! The 10x50 would also be brighter (daylight and night time with its 5mm EP), have a wider FOV (115m) than any above, but should handle about equal to the EL 12x50 (same size\weight you tried). For the continuous short term viewing you state you will do (1 hour), and maybe using the Swaro bino shoulder harness (very comfortable extended support), you shouldn't have any trouble with the EL 10x50's!! I've also compared the EL 10x42 to the EL 10x50. Other than the extra weight and extra 12mm length, you gain A Lot in a wonderfully larger, brighter, superb WOW Factor of Optics with the 10x50's. Sharpness and color saturation\fidelity are equal, but the definitely bigger picture just seems to take your breath away with every glassing session! For my eyes, All of the EL SV's show varying degrees of rolling ball effect, smallest size (8x32) being the worse and largest (10x50) being the least. I can't tolerate the 8x32, as I'm real sensitive to RBE. The 10x42 is not as bad, but I am aware of it. However, I can easily handle the 10x50, hardly even noticing it after just a few minutes of use. IF RB effect doesn't bother you, than you won't go wrong with either the EL 10x42 or the EL 10x50 SV, both are Superb Optical Instruments! Ted
