Hi all! I took in a baby blue jay last week. Mother was killed by a cat. I called all local resources, but was told to just keep it and do my best. He’s been thriving, but I just noticed he has an open wound on his chest. He still wants to eat .. non stop and seems to be doing very well. Any advice on how to care for the wound??

Hi Emmi and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I think you really need to take the bird to a vet, most will treat wildlife for free I understand. We have some general guidelines here for the care of injured and baby birds.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Hi Emmi and welcome aboard! I hope you find some help with the Jay and if you don’t mind could you update us on the Jay’s healing.

Hi, welcome to the forum. Sorry can’t give anymore advice than that already given.
