*NEAR disaster* yesterday! One of the Swallows accidently landed in the water bowl we have out for Maurice! :eek!::eek!::eek!: The poor guy was absolutly soaked 100% beak to tail but did manage to get out himself. Luckily the bowl was shallow and he didn't drown but he was soooooooooooooo cold and shivering!|:(| He was quickly taken up and dried with a hair drier and fed LOTS of nice warm cereal with meat. I was afraid I was going to report of a tragedy this morning but we tucked the now dried non- Michael Phelps Swallow in warmed towels and a heating pad plus fed him warmed food through about 4:00 AM. I'm happy to report he's a happy camper this morning and seems no worse the wear for his great adventure. :t: We did move the water bowl for Maurice into the cage that was once home for Maurice. It is open and he will once in a while venture inside for a nap. Since he's free to go in and out, he'll have his water there. The Swallows are safe from falling in but .... we may be *training* Maurice to be comfortable going into configned areas / cages. For now that's the safest solution and we'll try to modify things a little so the Swallows are safe from falling into water but Maurice does not need to enter a cage to get his water. Yet another work in progress. ...... :'D
