PS it was suggested that my irresponsibility was going birding two weeks back when I came to Britain and should have been visiting my mother. Incidently, I didn't go birding, it was butterfly'ing! Confession one, my mother had been diagnosed with cancer above the stomach two weeks earlier and had gone in for an emergency operation, hence my sudden visit to Britain. She came out from the operation on the Tuesday, was allowed hone on the Friday, I arrived that evening. On Saturday, I was in Dorset, Sunday Hampshire and Monday in Oxfordshire, all in pursuit of butterflies. Was it irresponsible, I guess yes - not that I abandoned her, because I didn't, the weather was glorious and she wanted to go too. It was a little irresponsible, as the doctor would not have been jumping over the moon that she was hurtling round the country just days after major surgery. Was it irresponsible to my mind, no - if the operation didn't work, time could have been a precious thing, better to use it to the best, my motto. Live it to the fullest, regardless. She was due to start chemotherapy in a few weeks, but was still planning a trip out here in a couple of weeks before the sessions (part of which time I would be be on the other side of the world - more of my irresponsible lifestyle). However, the good news, we heard two days ago - the tumour has turned out to be benign, chemotherapy is not needed and hopefully the story is over, she will still come over to look after my cat whilst I gallavant round the world after birds and all. I can confirm this is not my irresponsible deed - not least as I do not consider it irresponsible ;)
