Cheers U.N., only horrendous when I allow a mistake to happen. And yes I do carry an emergency kit nowadays in case some environmental terrorist pulls the pin on a loaded pug and lobs one towards me. ;) And finally from me a straight from the 'you just couldn't write a script department' story: an hour ago I was kneeling down in the front garden (by the footpath, nice reedy ditch, watching 'my' Moorhens and Reed Warblers) when I realised there were two couples, with two dogs (on leads) standing three feet behind me. I thought my time was up and some BFers had paid out for hit-dogs. They'd come in through my back garden, as they'd tresspassed into the crop field and were now trying to find a way back onto the footpath, because they'd seen the sign 'bull in field' and didn't understand what it meant. They agreed the sign seemed a little strange as they could see the field was empty. (The farmer moved them all to another field this morning.) Obviously some townies believe in stealth bullocks ;) Seriously though, explained my situation, asked them to keep their distance and directed them out to the front gate. No Anglo Saxon expletives. Dread to think what would have happened if one of them had sneaked over and sniffed me b*m though. And I mean the dogs before anyone says it. I guess I also have an irrational fear of this happening from my non-allergy days, when as a spotty teen playing skool footy, got tackled, stayed down on all fours recovering and found myself the object of desire for a Great Dane that the owner couldn't hold on its lead back on the touchline. Told mum the marks were from the magic sponge. Oh how the crowd laffed. Hope it gives a laff to all the off the leash BFers, and a good weekend's birding one and all.
