If I understand it correctly, CA occurs anytime different colors pass through a common lens because each color has different wavelengths and therefore a different refractive index on the lens causing slightly different points of focus per color. The perception or non-perception of CA is dependent on a lot, not least of which is compound lens solutions to line the points of focus back up. ANYWAY, today I went by Cabellas to try out some Alpha glass, and they had no Zeiss, in Leica only a 10X42 $3,249 Geovid HD-B was it, but about every Swarovision EL made except the 8.5X42. The Swarovision EL 10X42 was breathtaking, crystal clear across the FOV, almost revelational, easy to hold without shake, but sadly on the move the rolling ball was just a deal killer. I don't remember it being that pronounced at all in the 8.5's. Nor did the Swarovski have the ultra high quality industrial look or finish of the Leica 8X42 listed on the web site is the Trinovid. Sigh.
