Isles of Scilly 10/10/2024 - Snipe (1 Viewer)

Hi all, these were taken on St. Mary's, Isles of Scilly, this morning, near where the Wilson's Snipe was reported earlier in the week. Is there enough to confirm this is Common Snipe?

Hi Alan, I must say I don't have much experience at all with Wilson's snipe. My first impression here was of a Common Snipe, as I do not think it has enough barring in the tail feathers for a Wilson's. Additionally, according to other observers Wilson's gives a more 'colder' appearance and I don't think your bird shows this. So for me I would most likely say its a Common Snipe.
