*Not to be confused with ;): the much earlier, almost totally unknown, most likely British: "Mr. Holt, in our Service" that Swinhoe met in "Foochow" (today the caostal city Fuzhou, Fujian province, Southern China) in June 1857 "… since then stationed at that port …" commemorated in the subspecies (Hypsipetes) Ixos mcclellandii holtii SWINHOE 1861.

Maybe it is time to give him a post.

Ixos mcclellandii holtii (Swinhoe, 1861) OD here

The Eponym Dictionary of Birds claims:
Holt's Mountain Bulbul Ixos mcclellandii holtii Swinhoe, 1861
Henry Frederick William Holt (d.1890) was in the British consular service in China and a colleague of Robert Swinhoe (q.v.) who introduced him to ornithology and lent him his Chinese taxidermist when he started collecting. He was Acting Interpreter, Ningpo Consulate (1864–1876). He was noted as an orientalist and wrote 'Notes on the Chinese game of chess' (1885), was Honorary Secretary of the Royal Asiatic Society, and made a significant collection of Chinese coins.

Holt, Henry Fred. William, Esq., H.B.M. Vice-Consul, Tamsay,. Formosa.
