java problem (1 Viewer)

I've disabled java on my PC and set it to not update but something is overriding this and it still keeps sending me updates, every time I go back to java settings in Control Panel I find the update box has been ticked again. Anyone any ideas how I can stop this without removing java altogether (or is there something else on the computer that shouldn't be there doing it).

thanks for any help

John

From what I understand, if you do not use java, removing completely would be the safe thing to do. Presence of old java installations on your PC is supposed to be a security risk.

If you need it again one day, installing the latest version would be relatively quick.
