Some lovely sightings and photos Nerine.

Slightly better here tonight with 139 moths in 45 species.Nothing out of the ordinary but some very good looking specimens in Carcina Quercana,Poplar Hawkmoth,Poplar Grey,Dun-bar and Yellow Shell.Riband waves up and down in numbers with 25 tonight and a paltry 2 just two nights ago.

Dave.

I love looking at the times of these postings!

A poor catch again last night but Barred Rivulet new for the year. Lots of Common Rustic agg (30+) but nothing else of note.

Sugaring produced nada.

Your china mark is Udea prunalis.

Last night was distinctly better with some new for year and one new for garden.

Phycitodes binaevella (nfg)
rosy footman (nfy)
ruby tiger 3 (nfy) - although I've had two larvae
mother-of-pearl (nfy)
common rustic agg 3 (nfy)
small rivulet (nfy)

I've also got what I think might be small china-mark.
The small rivulet really was small - cf 5p!
I'd only ever had two orange footmen before this year but last night was my 4th of this year.

Last night was a bit better than late here, although that's not saying a great deal. Lots of Common Rustic aggs.

A few new for the year including

Least Yellow Underwing
Orange Swift
Phoenix - only the 30th for Hunts and the first since 2006 so a pretty nice catch!

Very few micros last night, but it was pretty cool still even though the rain held off.

ditto, poor night here - first dry night in a long time, dissapointing catch. Have an underwing which is straw coloured, makes the world of underwings a little more exciting...

Not quite, as I had one back on the 10th July. I was frustrated that I couldn't get a photo of it. One of the flightiest, least co-operative moths I've ever come across.

The 31st then! This one is equally flighty and takes ages to settle in the pot. I noticed it resting on a toadflax well back from the trap with its wings closed - initially passed it off as a Small White until I checked it out.

I used the actinic last night and caught about 50 odd moths and around 30 species. Most numerous were Shuttle-shaped Dart, Riband Wave and, pleasingly, Marbled Green. I had a very nicely marked Maiden's Blush. Will try and photo it later.
