We had some huge thunderstorms Monday evening here in east anglia too, there was serious lightning activity VERY close to my house, the local radio station got hit and Ipswich train station was evacuated when one of the chimneys got struck. We had monsoon rains and hail, at one point I thought we were going to get flooded out as my back garden was starting to disappear under water and out the front the entire road was a fast-moving river!

Walking into town yesterday the underpass was full of silty mud and the tide line showed it had been at least knee-deep in water - this underpass does tend to collect water though, there's a pump permanently fitted there for that reason!

I was in a thunderstorm only last Thursday when I was in Norfolk - one came over while I was in a hide at Cley Marshes and that was quite an experience - lots of rain was being forced through the gaps in the wood to form a large puddle on the floor and the lightning was striking very close (only a couple of seconds from flash to thunder - maybe a third of a mile away) making the whole structure shake! That was a rather interesting time!

Hi Fozzy

Wow, Thunder and Lightening, great entertainment as long as it causes no damage to anyone, or anything. Being out in it must have been a bit of an experience for you. There was some TV new items how bad the thunder, and lightening was in some places, cuasinf flooding too. Yes a house ot two was hit too. :eek!::eek!:

We where out at Castlemill Sluice in Bedford, and we where caught in a Thunder and Lightening storm while we walked about. We just go back to our car in time befire the rain really hit hard.

Hi there

Started of bright, but now the weather is changing. Got a feeling it will rain before the morning is out, and the wind is picking up too. o:);)

Its bright and warm up here...thats if you are out of the breeze and ocasional showers.

Last night we had the first noctlucent clouds for ages. These appeared about 1.15am and lasted for about 12 of 15 mins. The camera is just on auto and hand held so im afraid they are not to sharp.

It's been pretty muggy oveernight - I woke up at 4.20am and had to kick most of the covers off :-O

Still warm now and it's cloudy but bright. Seems to a light breeze too. The birds are singing well outside - woodpigeon, blackbird, wren, loads of house sparrows :t:

First day back at work today after three weeks off *yuck* :smoke: I guess I'll survive though.....had to go back sometime ;)

The odd sunny spell and less breeze today.

9 Blackbirds in the garden this morning, 3 of them being juveniles.

Weird day really - stayed muggy, little breeze and alternated between cloudy and sunny :king:

It's now pouring down outside :-O I don't think it'll last however as it seems to be clearer in the west.

Had an ok day at work but one of my customers made me think. She told me over six weeks ago that I was a very stressed out person (and there was me thinking I was keeping it well hidden from folks for fear of being labelled neurotic!) and today she said she hoped I was feeling better but I needed to be out amongst trees :eek!: That probably sounds a bit nutty but it's weird because only a few days ago, whilst staying at our friend's house in the Lakes, I'd said to Neil that the best thing about the area was the wonderful woods and that I really felt so relaxed and chilled out amongst them :t:

Perhaps I really DO need Nature to help me get better!

Hi Gill

It is interesting what you have said about your day. As you say it is other people who tend to notice important traits about us that we do not notice about ourselves in this big world. :gh:

Years ago, I used to get really wound up with work as it was a stressful place to be in. I remember my heart hammering in the walls of my chest many an occasion. This is what being so stressed was doing to me while working Monday to Friday.

Now I refuse, or even allow anyone or any situation to wind me up at all. I find I take so much of the same negative things then I will flip once only, then it is all forgotten about once more

So I feel a lot more in control of my life, and others are not pressing my buttons at all.

That is the best way to be, be everything you want to be and do not allow yourself to be 'sucked' into stressful situations.

I was told to slow down my breathing. So, it is a question of focusing on your breathing and really slow it down - and count to 10 at the same time. It is soothes your thoughts, and helps as you feel in control of what is happening around you. No-one will know what you are doing.

Hope that you find a way to de-stress yourself, Gill ;)

Anyway away off topic so I will go back to the weather. It has been a dull, grey day today. It is dry that is the main thing :t:
