Juvenile Ring-necked Duck? Eastern Ontario, Canada (1 Viewer)

Shot this morning in eastern Ontario, Canada, I have absolutely no idea what kinf of duck this is. If I had to guess I'd say juvenile ring-necked duck, but that's purely a guess. Can someone confirm or correct that ID?

A bit difficult for me as i do not see them in Europe in this age ,
but I´d tend to agree, as you see a beginning eyering and head shape seems to me different than the rather rounded one of redhead which might be another contender ...however, darker back than flanks and head pattern also look more like Ringnecked duck to me
That the bill is all black would be right for both species in this age...

But as I said, I do not see either species in this age in Europe, soplease best wait for the opinion of somebody more experienced with this early plumage and coloration....
