Kathleen's Red-banded Fruiteater & Röhl's Scaled Piculet (1 Viewer)

Björn Bergenholtz

(former alias "Calalp")
Sweden
Some minor additions, regarding:

● the subspecies Pipreola whitelyi kathleenae ZIMMER & PHELPS 1944 (here, p.10)
= Mrs. Kathleen Phoebe Phelps (19082001) née Deery, "… collector of the type specimen, …" (in 1944), Australian wife of US/Venezuelan ornithologist William H. Phelps, Jr.

She´s also mentioned in the HBW Alive Key entry for PHELPSIA.

If her name ever was "de Phelps" (as have been claimed) is unknown to me (but why should it? Her husband was simply Mr. Phelps). ;)

Note that the same Paper also (among others) gave us:

● the subspecies Picumnus squamulatus roehli ZIMMER & PHELPS 1944 (p.6) as "Picumnus squamulatus röhli"
= Eduardo Röhl (18911959) Venezuelan scientist, astronomer, humanist and entrepreneur etc. etc.

Enjoy!

Björn

Here a picture of her.

Regarding de it is very commen in the name in south america if you marry. And I assume they married in Venezuela.

Regarding Pöhl it is highly possible that his name is Eduard if he is born in Hamburg Germany here. Found him as well as Eduardo Röhl Arrien in Boletín - Sociedad Venezolana de Ciencias Naturales from 1959. Extract here.
