Kentish or Greater Sand Plover... Paphos headland today, winter plumage (1 Viewer)

There are usually a few wintering GS Plovers annually at Paphos headland, not sure which race.
In Cyprus it's ssp columbinus, the smallest of all, once confused with LSP, which after a revision of records now is no longer on the Cyprus List.

Thank you MJB, I recall both Charles and Colin having to carefully scrutinise these records and no doubt Jane has to as the present recorder......in case a Mongolian is lurking amongst them!

My good lady and I were due to go to Cyprus and rendezvous again with Colin Richardson on the day that Cyprus locked down: early that morning at Stansted, I had checked on line and found the lockdown statement from the President of Cyprus, and so I swiftly went to the Ryanair desk (first in the queue at about 0515) who helpfully suggested I rebook so that when flights were cancelled by Ryanair, I could more easily claim my money back. Our original flight departed on time, but everybody had to go into quarantine until they could be flown back to UK! Although these passengers could eventually claim their Ryanair costs back, they had to pay for the quarantine, which in some cases was longer than their original holiday! Since then, I've had to keep in touch with Colin by email - eventually I'll get him to sign my copies of his (then) new book!
