Kowa TSN-663 (1 Viewer)

Hi to all!

I might have a good deal on a second hand but mint Kowa TSN-663 with 20-60x oculair ( I think it is the standard) for 550euro.
Is that scope worth the price? Are there any good oculairs, maybe Wide-angles that combine good with them?
Last time I tested the 20-60x on a TSN-3, I wasn't really convinced because of the small sweetspot I thought...
Anyone hands-on experience?

Thanks!

Hi,

the price is good for a mint example with 20-60 zoom. Is it the current 20-60 zoom linked below or the old zoom from the 90s (thinner barrel, rubber eyecup)?

The current zoom is ok, the old one (which you probably tried with the TSN-3) is quite terrible.

Another option is of course the 30x wide which probably gives the best view (and could be pushed to 48x with the 1.6x extender.

Yes, it's the TSE-Z9B from the link.
I believe it was exactly tesame eyepiece I tried in combination with the TSN3. Had some fall off at the edges.
Does the SDLV3 fits on the TSN-663? Though, a wide angle 30x would also ben nice.

Thanks again Joachim!

Hi,

yes, the Kowa zoom is not quite as nice as the SDLv2 on my TSN-3. I know that the SDLv2 doesn't work on my TSN 613, I can't comment on the 663, but I have doubts because Kowa introduced a protective glass above the prisms with the latest TSN-3/4 and later models and that means that the SDLv2 doesn't fit any more. For the 613 the HDF zoom is listed as working, but not sure if anybody has tried that with the 663.
I can measure the barrel length of the SDLv2 if you get the 663 and measure the distance between the flange and the protective glass...

As for the SDLv3, I don't think anybody has actually tried it...
