A walk in a local cemetery in January 4 gave me a Treecreeper and some other passerines. Interesting that the Robins seem to stay all winter here now.

53. Treecreeper

And yesterday, just outside my door a bunch of Redpolls was feeding on the trees just outside. Not that common here, so nice find.

Me and some other birders went for a winters day at the coast, in Halland in Western Sweden.

We spent over 4 hours looking for the Golden Eagles who frequent the area around Falkenberg but this was just the wrong day, no winds, so no eagles. I guess that is the reason, they were there the day after and the day before. After giving up on the Golden Eagles we went to the Ringhals nuclear powerplant, the warm water coming out of the plant keept the ice away so lots of birds gathered there. Goldeneyes, Shags and lots of Smews to mention some of the birds there.

I got 2 lifers, Purple Sandpiper and Shag, so I was happy anyway, despite no Golden Eagles.

This was the 11 February and I have not been able to bird since then, the snow is just everywhere, you can´t travel and it´s freezing cold. Well, here is the list.

83. PURPLE SANDPIPER
84. White-tailed Eagle
85. SHAG
86. Red-necked Grebe
87. Pheasant
88. Smew
89. Eider
90. Greylag Goose

So I been to the sea again, saw plenty of ducks and got a few lifers, Horned Lark was really a nice one. But the Pygmy Owl was the best. So small, so powerful and amazing little bird.

And this morning I went to a open field with surrounding hills where a 2cy Golden Eagle had been seen for a few days, the winds were there, it was a clear bright day, but no eagle! I had to go to work only had 10 min left before I had to go when I saw a dark silhouette coming over the hills... it was the Golden Eagle! And it allowed me to observe it for atleast ten minutes. Sometimes birding is so sweet!
Here is the list!

Since the last update I have done some birding both around where I live and around the coast. The best thing that happened during this period was the King Eider. It was in a group of Eiders at a coastal town in western Sweden for over two weeks, and when we came to tick it we could observe it for 30 mins within 10 meters of us. So pretty bird! The Tundra Swan was also a really nice tick.
