Lack of Hoverflies (1 Viewer)

Until a couple of days ago I would have agreed with your observation.

Yesterday we went to Kew Gardens + the flowers seemed alive with Episyrphus balteatus, a few Myathropa florea + some smaller Eristalis spp. Geting home I also noticed what seemed to have been an influx of Episyrphus into the garden (more than I have seen for at least 3 years)- 1 providing a meal for a Misumena vatia on a Scabious flower. Today have seen quite a few too- I suspect many are immigrants.

Hi
Been thinking the very same thing in Dublin the last few weeks. We had loads last year in the garden and am only starting to see a few now. The cold winter maybe?

I have plenty in my garden in the West Midlands. They are attracted to the Buddleias and Vipers Bugloss in my garden along with various Bee species.
