Morning,
I had a lot of Lackeys recently but have only just realised how similar they are to the Ground Lackey. How do I tell the difference?

Hello Jen, :hi:

The Lackey and the Ground Lackey are very similar, perhaps the major difference is that the former has brown and white checkered fringes to the wings, whereas the latter don't. Wing banding markings can vary slightly and it isn't always possible to determine which species it is from these alone.

Habitat may also give an indicator as to which species it is. The ground Lackey is an inhabitant of salt marshes whilst the Lackey is an inhabitant of broadleaf woodland (not often found in saltmarshes, lol).

Lol. Probably all Lakeys then since I'm surrounded by woodland.
This was last night's - probably just looked different as it's a bit darker.
